Gyan Das, Ansari join hands to support Anna

AYODHYA: All-India Akhara Parishad chief Mahant Gyan Das and Hashim Ansari, the oldest litigant in Babri Masjid title suit, joined hands on Friday to support Anna Hazare's movement against corruption.

The mahant, who is also the chief priest of Hanuman Garhi temple in Ayodhya, and Ansari were in news when they tried to forge an out-of-court settlement in Ayodhya case after the high court verdict in September 2010.

Addressing a joint press conference at Hanuman Garhi temple, Mahant Das and Ansari said, "We openly support Anna and his cause and we are also ready to march to Delhi with our followers and devotees if needed." Speaking to mediapersons, they said that their support to Anna was purely for the holy war which he is leading and they should not be clubbed with RSS, VHP or the BJP, who have also announced to support Anna.

"We are against corruption and also against the saffron politics and communalism being spread by right wing saffron brigade," the two said.

"We believe in true religious activities and do not want to do politics of religion, so this is a pure secular support for Anna," the two of them added.

TIMES CAMPAIGN: ACT AGAINST CORRUPTION

Join campaign for a strong Lokpal law to make India corruption-free
The people of India are sick of corruption. Anna Hazare's Jantar Mantar fast, which got overwhleming public support, has not gone in vain. The latest government version of the proposed Lokpal Bill is certainly an improvement over the anemic bill drafted by the law ministry in December 2010, but the governemt is still not ready to go the whole hog. It wants to retain certain controls. This, unfortunately, may provide escape routes to the corrupt.

It's not too late to tell the government that we, the people of India, do not want any compromises on the anti-corruption law. Join the campaign by clicking the "JOIN CAMPAIGN" button below.
